Hair Loss & Alopecia

Understanding Hair Loss

Hair loss is a common concern that can affect people of all ages and genders. Several distinct types exist, each with its own causes and treatment approach, so an accurate diagnosis is the first step towards effective treatment.

Androgenetic Alopecia (Male & Female Pattern Hair Loss)

The most common form of hair loss, typically caused by a combination of genetic and hormonal factors, resulting in gradual thinning of the hair and progressive hairline recession. We offer comprehensive assessment and evidence-based prescription treatments tailored to your pattern of hair loss and treatment goals.

Telogen Effluvium

Temporary hair shedding triggered by stress, illness, hormonal changes or certain medications. It is generally self-limiting, with regrowth typically occurring over 6 to 12 months, though identifying and addressing any underlying contributing factors is an important part of treatment.

Alopecia Areata

An autoimmune condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles, often causing sudden hair loss in round patches. Treatment options include topical steroids, topical bimatoprost, topical minoxidil, corticosteroid injections to reduce inflammation and encourage regrowth, and oral immunomodulating medications.
