Understanding Sun Damage & Actinic Keratoses
Actinic keratoses (AKs) are rough, scaly patches that develop due to cumulative UV exposure. They are considered precancerous, and most commonly affect the face, scalp, ears, neck, forearms and the backs of the hands. AKs can progress to skin cancer if left untreated.

Solara Dermatology's signature treatment for extensive sun damage is laser-assisted photodynamic therapy (PDT), treating the whole affected area not just individual visible lesions. Depending on the extent and pattern of sun damage, Dr Gupta may also recommend topical prescription treatment, cryotherapy, or BBL HEROic and HALO Tribrid to improve the quality of your sun-damaged skin.
